Birko’s CEO is elected as chairman during organization’s 45th anniversary and strategic planning conference
HENDERSON, Colo. – Birko, a leader in providing integrated sanitation solutions, is excited to announce its chief executive officer, Mark Swanson, has been appointed as the new chairman for U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF).

Mark is also a member of the North American Meat Institute (NAMI), the Produce Marketing Association, the United Fresh Produce Association, the Association for Corporate Growth, and the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.
He routinely presents on food safety topics to industry groups, government agencies, and graduate degree programs including Colorado State University’s (CSU) College of Business and College of Agriculture Sciences.
Mark earned a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture business and an executive MBA, both from Colorado State University, and is the past president of the CSU Alumni Association Board of Directors. He is a member of the CSU CIS Advisory Board and a past member of the CSU Entrepreneurs Center Board of Directors. In addition, he serves on the CSU College of Ag Sciences Dean’s Leadership Council.
